Matchweek 7 had plenty of storylines and drama on Sunday night. Top of the table was once again relenquished with Andalusia scoring a huge win in the final minutes. Jerusalem knocked off Samarra back into the middle of the pack and Anatolia got a big comeback win over Sham. Here are the recaps:
Hejaz FC 0 | 1 Andalusia FC
In a highly anticipated match up, Hejaz went up against Andalusia. Hejaz were the clear favourites with their three game win streak, while Andalusia were surely feeling some pressure given their own three game winless streak. If the Spaniards sensed an opportunity against the Hejaz side missing Junaid Akram, AK, Syed Hussain and Tayseer Bharucha, Their opponents quickly put them on their heels with Muhammad Shah and Fawad Akram consistently creating chances to score. It took some solid defending and display of speed by the two Andalusian Khans -- Shay and Zain -- to keep the score even at half time. The rest of the game was a defensive tussle with neither side creating too many chances. The only goal of the game would come from Ali Chaudhry halfway through the second half on an indirect free kick setup by Shay Khan. Despite the win, Andalusia ended the game subdued by an ankle injury to Zain Khan which may end up ending his spectacular rookie season prematurely.
Man of the Match - Ali Chaudhry
Sham FC 2 | 3 Anatolia FC
On the other side at 8:45, Anatolia started off pushing forward but out of sync and Sham looked dangerous on the counter. Adeel Ansari finally tapped in the first goal early on and 5 minutes later scored another from distance dipping it into the bottom left. Down 2-0, Anatolia finally put it together as Nehad skipped a beauty behind Yasser Zia from a tight angle and Zain Khilji netted a long range freekick 5 minutes later. At 2-2 and just before the half, Nehad scooped one for Zain who guided the game winning goal over the keeper. The second half was all Anatolia with the rare Sham counter, but the score held steady at 3-2.
Man of the Match - Nehad Shihab
Jerusalem FC 4 | 0 Samarra FC
Jerusalem FC 4 | 0 Samarra FC
In the late match, Samarra looked to hold on to top spot against a struggling Jerusalem squad. Fans were amazed that Jerusalem finally fielded a full squad for the first time this season. The match started off with both teams countering but it was a Jerusalem counter that found Omar Sheikh setting up Saqib Dadabhoy for the easy tap in. A few minutes later Raza Ali found Umair Wasim infront of the net who put in a nifty back-heel past the keeper. Samarra continued to try to find scoring chances but the Jerusalem defence was up to the talk. In the second half, Samarra found a couple openings but were unable to find the finishing touch. Omar Sheikh was gifted a goal when the Samarra keeper mishandled a shot into his own net. Omar would finish the match with a brilliant short angle goal to give Jerusalem the huge win. Jerusalem move back into a first place tie while Samarra fall hard to fourth place with a huge matchup against Hejaz upcoming.
Man of the Match - Atif Mian
