Week 8 Recap

Matchweek 8 had two blow outs and a new leader of the table. Hejaz sneak back into the playoff picture while Samarra drop down to fifth. Here are the recaps:

Hejaz FC     5   |   2     Samarra FC

In a matchup with playoff implications, both Hejaz and Samarra played a tight contest in the first half. Samarra were playing without a bench and as the match went on, it caught up with them. Midway through the first half, Fawad Akram beat the Samarra defence to score the opener. Muhammad Shah would add the second to give Hejaz a 2-0 lead going into the half. Samarra were once again struggling to generate offense and needed to reset. Early in the second half, Muhammad Shah added his second and Junaid Akram would add another to give Hejaz a commanding 4-0 lead. Samarra would score two goals quick goals but it was a little to late. Fawad Akram would add his second to close off a 5-2 victory. Hejaz move into a tie for 4th place but take over the playoff spot on goal differential. Samarra drop from first place to fifth after two consecutive losses. They face another big match next week to get back into the playoff picture.

Man of the Match - Muhammad Shah

Sham FC     0   |   13     Jerusalem FC

The other side of the pitch saw a one sided match where Jerusalem took control of the early and never looked back. Sham had some quality chances early in the match with two off the post and a couple Jerusalem goal line clearances but were unable to get it across the line. Umair Wasim would open the scoring for Jerusalem and it was quickly followed by two goals by Omar Sheikh. Before we knew it, the score was 7-0 in the first 15 minutes. To Sham's credit, they still played hard despite the scoreline. Saqib Dadabhoy would get his third of the match in the dying minutes while Omar Sheikh finished with a total of 5 goals and 2 assists to break a BISL record of points in a match. Jerusalem move back to the top of the table with a matchup against Anatolia next week. Sham however look to redeem themselves next week against Hejaz.

Andalusia FC     1   |   3     Anatolia FC

In the late match, both Anatolia and Andalusia came into the fixtture without their GMs. Zain Khilji was celebrating an Aresenal victory while Junaid Mirza was en route to South America. The match coudn't have started better for the Spaniards as they took an early 1-0 lead on a brilliant finish by Ayaz Sethi. Taqi Ahmed would reply in the 20th minute on a fancy finish infront of the net to even the match. Both teams went into the half looking to take control of the final 25. It was Nehad Shihab that scored the difference maker as he muscled his way to the net to score the game winner. Andalusia had their striker playing in goal and he seemed to forget a few times he was wearing the gloves. The third Anatolia goal came off a wide kick-in that the goalkeeper decided to take and passes it in the pathway of Kamil Lotia who walked the ball into the net for the finishing touch. Andalusia once again vacate top spot in the standings while Anatolia take control of second place with a tilt against the league leaders next week.
